Sunroof 700 1987

I have a 1990 but it could be the same. The hatch has a fuzzy seal around it that blocks 90 % of the water that pours down on your roof. For the ten percent that gets through, there are channels on the left and right sides of the hatch opening that act as gutters. At each end of the gutters there is a small hole that drains the water down a tube inside the pillars that hold your roof up. If you ever remove the hatch or get to these holes by other means, blast compressed air down them or do what I did which was to force a piece of clear plastic tubing down all four holes and then force water down the tubing. It washed out years of pine needles oak leaves, or whatever your local clogging source is. Two years later, no waves of water washing onto my lap when I hit the brakes during a southern summer storm
If you have problems with the cables and springs that operate the roof, be prepared to replace broken cables. People who service headliners on cars are familiar with this.
