740 turbo, no crank when hot, but can be jumped 700 1989

First off, I am so glad I found this forum, it has been a huge help with my newly acquired Volvo. I recently inherited my 1989 Volvo 740 turbo wagon from my parents and as a bonus it came with hot weather cranking problem. If there car sits in the sun with ambient temperatures of 80F or more, it will not crank. Also, if it i driven for 15 minutes or more in hot weather and shut off, it will not crank. You can turn the ignition and all the accessories work and the dash lights come on, but nothing else happens. I can hear the fuel pump, but that is it. What is most confusing is that the car will start instantly when it is jumped with a friends car. It also starts and runs flawlessly when the ambient temperature is 70F or less. I have checked the fuel and radio interference relays and the fuel pumps, but I have not checked the neutral safety switch or the starter solenoid. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
