Just installed ECodes on my 89 245 this week. This is a picture I snapped when I just plopped them in and hooked up the turnsignal lights. I was so jazzed to get them in and see what they'd look like.
I got these from SweedishAutoLampsforLess on eBay. That's right. I was totally apprehensive but asked them a ton of questions first. They are made by DJAuto and are the one's FCP Groton usually gets in stock (you must call them and ask). I paid $220. The description says made by AstralAutoHersteller. I've found that that is the European distributer who's copied them and are made in China. Other than the Aisin transmission on these 240's this will be the only China product that goes on my Volvo ever again.
I'll be quite frank. I think the quality is pretty darn good. Honestly, in many regards they are way, way better than the stock 86 and up crap made by Valeo, France that turn yellow and fall apart.
Many kits don't come with the new eyebrow trim. Mine did, but it didn't come with the brows for the turnsignals. Your old ones screw right in. I have since put a very slight curve with a heat gun on the end of the brow to line up perfect. I also raised the passenger side up about 1/4" by reaming out the sheetmetal a bit with a dremmel. Now they line up perfect. I'll add another picture later.
Daniel Stern recommended 70/65 Offroad Osram H4 bulbs, $22 each. I installed a relay/circuit kit RIK-H4R from him for $59. Comes with everything you need except wire. I bought 30 feet of 12 gauge for everything. I added 20 feet of 14 gauge from the old plugs to the new relays only. So this is about a $350 dollar upgraded and...
WOW is the lighting OUT OF THIS WORLD BETTER! Brighter, whiter, fuller. The high beams are insane, the lows are better than practically everyone else's I see on the road. No joke. I'm very happy indeed. All that, and it looks way nicer. I had a thumbs up today from a older 80's wagon driver I pass almost every day.
I will add another posting with more pictures very soon. Since there are quite a few good write ups on this process from Dave Shannon,
and this one http://oak.cats.ohiou.edu/~ridgely/e-code.htm I will only add the things I ran up against and my solutions to add to the knowledge here on BB.

Check back on this thread this weekend and I'll have more pics and how I installed the relay kit. It was the first electrical project I've attempted in a long, long time.
The new look is below...
