Weird dash lights action. 700 1992

1992 745 with 180K miles. With growing frequency the following is occurring: When turning the ignition key ON, the WARNING LIGHTS on the bottom of the instrument panel DO NOT come on. Only the Overdrive arrow light and the Parking brake light are lit faintly, with much less of the usual intensity. The car starts and runs fine, and when the parking brake is lowered the lights go out. If I lift on the Parking brake again, then the light for it and the o/drive arrow light up faintly again. While driving the car like this, the Overdrive works normally although the light for it (the arrow) doesn't light up. I've checked the switches for the hand brake, the O/drive switch, and even swapped the O/drive relay with no results. Any ideas?
