Considering purchase of car sitting idle for one year-plus 200 1991

Hi. Considering a 1991 Volvo 240 that has been sitting idle for the last year or more, 172,000 miles. Asking price $700. Sellers advise that they jump started it this spring and it ran. They say that it needs new battery, and some minor body work. Owner's uncle did all the work for the past six years and they have no repair records, and scanty history. Have only seen pictures, and it looks decent, however would appreciate the voices of experience as to what we need to watch out for/can expect. This would be for a new teenage driver, and there are not buckets of money to pour ino it. Thanks so much.
