gutting out the EGR? 200 1992

This is the new red 244 I picked up a few weeks ago. I'm taking apart everything in the front and the left side to scrub clean it and to replace seals and belts today. To my greatest suprise, I discovered a EGR system on this car which I did not know. My question is: if I take out all the plumbing, the EGR vacum diaphram valve, the electrically actuated vacum switch, can I still use the original ECU or do I need a non-EGR ECU? Also, does anyone sell a conversion kit somewhere on the web? A kit includes all plugs. I think that my car and I will be happier without it. Thanks. Erwin
