Anyone have any advice for me??????? So my alternator went out on me a while back, far from home. So I end up being towed to a Goodyear Service Center with an Auto Zone right next door. So far I liked my chances of getting it fixed, and I did. The next morning, I bought the alternator and aftermarket belt from AutoZone. I hand carried them over to GoodYear, and they installed for me. I broke down at midnight the night before and was back on the road by noon; not too bad...
Okay anyway, while they were working on it, they come in to tell me that the alternator adjustment bolt is stripped (how it happened, I have no clue). Miraculously, they find another one of these unique bolts, charge me 11 extra bucks for it, and put her all back together.
Recently I had a new evaporator and condenser put on. My mechanic, without going into too much detail, says that my alternator belt is loose, but can't be tightened; says the adjustment bolt is screwed up...
Is this something that is common or does anyone have any tips or advice for me. I haven't really checked it out in too much detail. I hate to start tearing it apart without searching for some info first.
I really hope this is not a big deal. I just spent $600 to fix the A/C on a two thousand dollar car. So far its been worth it to keep this thing running. I wonder where I stand now???
