someone cut out my o2 sensor!!!

hello, i am rehabbing a '90 240dl which i picked up for a sweet price with a fresh paint job, but upon inspecting the exhaust system i noticed no o2 sensor??? hmm..... found the wires cut underneath the hood, why would anyone do this???

well i need to know the best way to remedy the issue, any suggestions???
