Startmotor problems 1982 240 GL 200 1982

2 Weeks ago I my start problems began. When turning the ignition switch I only heard the solenoid click and then nothing. When trying it again all power was gone. After waiting for a while power came back and it started. Finally it didn't start at all anymore yesterday.Cranked up the car and had a look at the wiring below connected to the solenoid and start motor.
I found the red big wire and the small wire connected to front the solenoid in good shape but from that same area came another thin wire which I found disconnected, the only thing is I can't seem to find where that wire was connected to.It might come from the other side of the solenoid which I can't see or does it come from the starter motor itselve?I wish I had an electrical drawing of that area.

Thanks in advance
