is it my starter, solenoid...how do I check? 900 1997

Hello. New to the forum and pretty new to Volvo. Inherited a 1997 960 sedan(non-turbo) pushing 120k miles. Ran great first couple weeks then had loss of fuel pressure- would crank but not turn over. Fuel pressure issue seems resolved, now i can't get it to crank at all. Turn the key, no sound whatsoever from starter and solenoid. Relays are good, fuses are good. I am thinking that it's one of two things. Either, from repeated attempts to start the engine, letting the starter crank more than I probably should have, I killed the starter motor or solenoid. Or it could be something to do with wiring, possibly a ground wire I inadvertently messed with when I diagnosing the fuel pressure issue. How do I determine the problem?
