Coolant level question 700 1991

While you could have some kind of air bubble in the system that might explain this (did you loosen the thermostat housing to bleed air out?), the gold standards of tests will indicate any head gasket problem: a compression test and a cooling system pressure test. Both easy and cheap at your local mechanic. You might also want to test the coolant for exhaust gases, done with a chemical test strip.
