rear control arm bushing welded in? 200 1991

Driver side rear control arm busahing was indeed tack welded in to the arm. Made replacing it fun as one of the tacks was way up and around making it diifuclt to cut. My Dremel got it though but it added about a half hour to the job. Passenger was not.

Is this normal?
The bushing was OEM. The arm i could not tell but it was way more corroded than the passenger side and was also cracked almost in half. I am thinking it was a replacement but with bushing having the volvo stamp and the rest of the wear being similar to the passenger side I am not sure.

has anyone experienced there rear control arm bushings to be tacked in?
