I agree, this could be bad. The PO of my car replaced the transmission 3 times due to radiator leaks. As a result, while changing the radiator this Spring, I found the expansion hose to be impacted with oil - dry oil, it was weird.

First thing to do is to pull the engine oil and transmission oil dipsticks and see if there's antifreeze on either on them. Then you know where the problem is.
