240 auto Cuts off when shifting into second gear 200 1990

My 1990 240 automatic (180k miles)(high NOX) idles OK but when you rev it up quickly, it cuts off right away (almost like the coil gets grounded). Restarts after cranking a few times. (Used to start on the first crank)
New plugs, new Volvo cap, new wires, hot wired fuel pump to bypass the fuel relay, put injector cleaner in fuel tank (50% full).
Next step is to change the fuel filter, then have a look at the fuel injectors. Am I on the right path?
Thanks
Jerry
