Speedo repair/taking miles off the clock 200 1987

Excellent post with great detail! When it comes to "correcting" the ODO reading though, there is an easier way. There is a rod/pin that colored gears ride on that sit behind the digit tumblers. Note the sequence of the gears (don't mix them up), push the pin out gradually catching each gear as it falls of the pin. Now you will find the digit tumblers move freely, so tweak them to the desired mileage. Once that is done, reinsert the gear rod/pin gradually while reinserting the gears one at a time. Once all gears are back in place and the pin is back to its original position, reassemble the rest of the ODO/Speedo and reinstall.

I consider this to be a much safer approach than spinning the system with a drill... as this may cause excessive wear.
