Does THIS mean bad gasket? 900 1993

Posted this in another thread - different topic.

On my wife's 940, overheats and loses water gradually.

Took the t-stat out. Filled it back with water. Cranked car. Watched for pressure to build in top hose. Did not seem to have much. Removed cap, probably too early. Excess water boiled out (had put a bit too much in) not hot.

Then I thought to rev the engine up a bit with the cap off the reservoir. After a second or so it was like Yellowstone ...up the water came, pretty forceful ..out of the reservoir. Tried it again - same thing.

May still need to some tests done, but this may a pretty strong indicator of a bad gasket. Also there is a slight trace of oily film in the water within the reservoir.

OK ..guys. Help me out here. :) I am iching to pull the head, but don't want to if there is another cause of this.
