How much more Gasoline does a Turbo use? 700 1990

Bricksters:
My son's girlfriend is looking for a replacement for her jeep..and we have found a 90 740 RED turbo station wagon...for $1200, but I think we can get it for $1K cash. However, we are concerned about exessive gas usage by turbos.
How much more does a turbo add to the gas usage of a 740? Enough to reject the car?
Please advise as the seller is bringing it to his lot on Monday for us to evaluate.
