You are right. This looks to be a two man thread!

I thought about re-build on my 760, but I still am not 100% sure what it is that makes the smoke. It runs like a bat out of hell ..fast ...especially since a replacement of some new turbo hoses. That tells me the compression can't be that bad ...although that is what is supposed to be done to start with in your case and in mine ..is to get a compression check.

Soon ..or better than that get me a good comp gauge and do it myself

My odo shows 206K, but I really think the car has more than that. At any rate, it has the piston slap and the ticky, tick you mention. Now that I have run valve cleaner through it a number of times - that is better. I think I will just drive it, add oil when needed, change and regulate things at a moderate pace ..and one day I will have an 89 760 any would be proud of.
