Erratic behavior with my 745 700 1992

2 year old spark plugs? Yikes! Ensuring that basice engine tune items are done is the first diagnostic step. That aside, I found that symptoms similar to yours in my 91 740 turbo (and the AMM codes) was was related to a damaged pin on the connector that plugs into the AMM (specifically #1 which is the ground I beleive). I am currently looking for a replacement connector, but suspect that I may have to fork out $ and get the engine wiring harness as a unit. If you are diagnostically inclined, the volvo wiring book and a multi-meter will save you a fortune.

Good luck.
