Ok to drive WITHOUT overdrive engaged? Will this hurt the transmission? 200 1989

Okay folks, it looks like I'm going to have to replace the overdrive solenoid/relay on my '89 240 DL. I took her in to a garage to have her transmission looked at & they told me it was the overdrive solenoid that was out. They recommended that I also replace the overdrive relay at the same time & quoted me the price of $940 to do the job, parts & labor. Umm, no thanks, I'll do it myself.

I've found a place in town that has both parts for under $350, but it's going to be a week before I can get them. So, my question is will it hurt my old brick to drive her with the overdrive off until we can replace the parts? I do lots of highway driving & my commute is about 100 miles a day. Will driving with the overdrive turned off hurt the transmission?

Thanks!
