Driver side doors locks by itself when closing 200 1985

Lately my 1985 240 DL wagon when closing the driver side door, it seems to automatically lock itself. I don't think the lock is really engaging, however you cannot open the door unless you pull up the lock. This happens everytime the door is closed. I have removed the door panel and am trying to figure out what is broken/loose. If I hold the door lock knob while closing the door eveything is ok
