You didn't mention what else you've done to insure an adequate air supply. Your symptoms you describe fit an air restriction.

If you haven't already done so, check the air intake system from the air intake horn in the grille to the throttle body. Look for kinks in the accordian hose, clean everything you see.

Not a bad maintenance prodecure in any event.
