Engine grounds 700 1987

Howdy,

I am not really very familiar with the 740 but I think there is one behind the right headlight and another one on the right side of the firewall. The strap you have dangling should be connected to the intake manifold too. You should be able to tell which bolt; it may even still have the ring terminal under the bolt head if the wire was broken.

On my 240, I found the main ground from the battery to the block was not attached when I got the car. The starter was turning over really slowly because it was having to pull ground from the firewall connections, through the intake, head, and then to the block. When I connected that ground the starter was much happier. ;-)
