Factory Alarm and Key Fob not getting along 900 1997

The 1997 960 wagon my wife drives has been giving us fits. Changed the batteries in the key fob and programmed it, seemed to work fine. But then the next morning it won't unlock the car and the slight chirp noise that the fob emits is no longer happenning. It gets better. So if you now try and use the key to unlock the doors, it will only unlock the drivers door and when you open the door the horn goes off. The other odd thing is when trying to use the key to unlock the doors, the only door that unlocks is the drivers unlike before with a double twist of the key all doors would unlock. Wife is about at wits end and I am unsure how to proceed. How can I disable the alarm function and have the key work as it did before?
Thanks
Andy
