Automatic Locks 900 1997

Automatic locks on the 1997 960 wagon no longer work when using the key in the drivers door. The only door that will lock or unlock with the key is the drivers door. The doors will however lock and unlock when you use the remote, but sometimes this is intermidate even after putting in fresh batteries and reprogramming the remote. Could this problem be the door lock module or switch that is located in the driver door and how do I test this? The price I was given for the module is close to $400.00 and the switch almost $70.00. Is this an easy swap or does something have to be programmed by the dealer? Any and all help is much needed.
