Rear Differential fill plug really stuck on..will not budge,even with acetelyne torch. 700 1989

Changing the cover sounds like the way to go to me. I think one from a 240 would work, but be aware that there are at least two kinds of cover, depending on the year. My 88 745 had a stamped steel cover with a collar welded on to mount the speed sensor, and 90 and later cars have a cast aluminum one. I'm not sure which type was used on 89s, though I suspect the aluminum, and that your plug is corroded in place. You need to identify which type you have and be sure to get the same kind.
