Style of Alternator brushes 700 1986

Here is a photo of the brushes out of my original alternator.
I think I found a replacement set from a place called partsquick (ever hear of it?).
The replacement though does not have the plug fitting on the right side.
I don't think it makes any difference, but wanted to check with others.
I've never used that plug for anything.
Any idea what it is for?
Have you used replacement brushes that don't have the plug?
