A/C Compressor Problems 200 1987

hello caleb,
you will get good advice shortly.

briefly, a/c units don't kick on if you are low or out of freon, meaning, you have a possible leak.

you could have a fuse out or loose--good to check the cheap and easy stuff first.

a/c and other fuse is #12 fuse:

#12 Back-up lights, Window lifts (relay), Air conditioning (with blower control), Rear window demist (relay) 8A

if the other listed things work, then you know it's not a fuse problem.

volvo has a nice site with information, such as owners manuals online and other stuff. it's free, all you need is your email address to register. you can buy volvo manuals, too.

http://www.volvocars.com/us/tools/OwnersInfo/Pages/default.aspx

it would be about the right time to get some manifold a/c gauges--harbor freight sells them on sale now and then.

regards,
