AW-71 leak only when off 200 1983

My 83 240 has a leak that has been getting worse over time.The aw-71 transmission that is in the car works perfectly,but has an annoying leak only when you shut it off.I have traced it to the 90 degree elbows that the tranny cooler lines attach to.I know that there are O-rings in there but why doed it leak when the car is off and not when there is pressure?[when it is on].
