My '79 GT just needed some fresh gas. Now it starts on the first crank, runs like a top, doesn't sputter/hesitate at all and has way more power.
Sadly I need to sell it. I'm in my last year of undergrad and broke, and it doesn't make sense to have another rig. Not to mention student loans...
It seems to be a lot more responsive in handling than non-GT Volvos and is fun to drive. It has 263,000 miles but for a 240 we all know this is nothing. Tabs are new.
Things that are new:
Head gasket
valve job
heater hoses
radiator hoses
water pump
timing belt
transmission fluid
Tires (Les Schwabb Warrior) less than 200 miles
Front brake calpipers/pads/rotors all new
distributor cap/rotor, plugs and wires
Intake maniford gasket
Cleaned throttle body
Has door pockets
Interior is quite presentable, seats are comfortable. (repairable rip on driver's seat vinyl...I'll probably fix it tomorrow.
I detailed the interior, it looks much better.
Issues with the GT:
Power steering pump has slow leak
fuel gauge is inconsistent
No fan shroud
Body:
Needs paint/new stripes
Light surface rust in places, but nothing pitted or serious
passenger door has 4" crease
Fenders on passenger side are a little dinged up right by the wheels where the fenders stick out the farthest
Windsheild is cracked but not in danger of shattering (goes from left side to bottom side)
Grill is beat up, fog lights disconnected (they were draining the battery)
Interior:
small crack in dashboard (have cover)
larger, aftermarket speakers in doors.
shift boot has split in the rubber.
non-original radio
armrests are beat up.
Here's a few pics. Let me know what you think it's worth. I'm located in Western WA.
