93 240 temperature gauge - bad? 200

Replaced radiator(3" split) after car overheated. Temp gauge worked for a few minutes, but now it just reads cold. Checked gauge per Haynes manual (grounding lead for a few secs w/ ignition on), but no movement on gauge. Checked continuity on the yellow wire - it's ok. I haven't jumped the temp comp board yet, but I don't think that's the problem (since the gauge test failed). So is it time to put a new (used) gauge in, or can they be repaired (by me)? I don't see them on IPD, FCP or eEuro, but VLV has them for $15. It looks like they just bolt on to the board? Thanks for the feedback! JP
