Squeaking noise 200

I'm hearing a bad high-pitched squeaking noise when I'm moving out in my 1990 240 wagon. Slow speeds. Pulling out from parking or from a stop sign. Noise seems to be vaguely tied to rotation of wheels, i.e. rythm is somewhat related to rpms of wheels, but not exactly. Seems to be coming from the rear and not the front, but hard to tell.

I hear this noise up to speeds of about 30mph.

Bad during 90-degree turns, too.

My local Volvo dealership just replaced the rear brake pads -- they thought that would fix the problem. Not too long ago, they also tightened the emergency brake.

Mechanic today suggested I apply the e-brake while moving to clean it out -- he thought it might have been dust or a little stone. I did that and notice no improvement. Not sure how long of a run he was suggesting I keep the e-brake on.

Any thoughts or ideas for a newbie who's not mechanically inclined? The noise seems to be getting louder over the past couple of weeks.

Thanks.
