I snipped the pigtail that was attached to the assembly and the old brushes fell right out.

Then ground the old solder away with a Dremmel tool.
Cleaned up the tabs that the new pigtails would be soldered to.
Installed the new brushes...soldered them up, and good as new.
Thanks for the tips!

Picked up the new brushes from FCP.
$14 +/- for parts + shipping. What a deal!!! Lot's better than laying out the cash for a new alternator!
