tail lights...passenger side brighter; dummy light indicator on intermittently 200 1988

I have a 1988 240 dl wagon I'm trying to fix up a bit. Among other unresolved things, I'm now noticing another problem: the passenger side lower tail lamp is brighter than the driver side. I am using the same black three pronged sockets and the same dual-elemented bulbs on each side. The top lights on each assembly seem to serve only as fog lights, as they both only light up when the foglight switch is on. Every day or two, the tail light warning dummy light lights up, sometimes when the lights are turned on, and sometimes just when I hit the brakes. I have replaced the bulbs a couple of times, and the fuses, which works initially. I am new to these cars. SOrry if my question is dumb.
