That relay sounds like a headlight dipper relay and not a reverse relay.
Do you have a picture? You might be able to make it work with some proper wiring.

All of the relays (reverse, overdrive, horn, etc) on my 65, 67, and 68 - except the high/low beam - are the 3-prong "can" relays. I think that's what you need to get. I have a bag of them somewhere...
