Bosch reverse lights relay connection 120-130

Hello,

What you have is what is commonly refered to as a "change over" relay and is commonly used for all types of accessories like foglights and it is not the same as the original, but can be wired to work as a replacement.

The original Volvo relay had only 3 terminal as it was internally wired to pass the voltage that is normally only used to switch the relay.

BTW, if you wanted a 3 terminal reverse light relay, Volvo still sells them.

But they are a reproduction and do not look like the original and they cost over $20.00 and might be closer to $30.00.

If you look a little closer to the markings on the relay, you will see that the center terminal is actually labeled 87a and will not be used for the reverse lights.

Connect the black wire with positive voltage to terminal 30 and make a jumper to supply power to terminal 86.

Connect the grey wire to terminal 87 and the black wire from the transmission switch to terminal 85.

The extra grey wire is connected to the headlight dipper switch part of the turn signal switch, which was not connected for the USA market.

I am not sure what your white wire is, but make sure that if it does have power, that you insulate it so it won't blow a fuse.
