A/C components and retro kit. 200 1990

I installed a new dryer, condensor, changed the oil in the compressor, and will put in an expansion valve and a new evaporator if recommended by Bricksters. The retro kit I got from FCP Groton doesn't seem right. Plenty of rings, so that's good. But the valves...the only one I was able to use is one that fits over the old one on the compressor. The other ones...red ones...don't seem to fit anywhere. I know the old R12 fittings are useless when converting, so I'm kinda stuck. How do I go about installing the new fittings on the low side.
After I get everything installed I'll bring the car to an A/C tech. Are they likely to have the right parts to get the 134a valves installed?
Thanks for your help.
