Oil Pan Replacement 900 1996

Im replacing my oil pan. Question
How is the sealer applied to the pan ? I bought Victor Reinz (Reinzosil-t) sealer said to be used on volvo oil pans. It comes in a tube but I remember hearing something about using a roller, but cant remember where. Or should i just use a thinset bead of the V.Reinz ?
Anyone who has done this job before knows you only want to pull that oil pan once !
