what did I break? 200 1989

I was in he process of replacing the harmonic balancer and in order to keep the engine from turning I wedged a tire iron by the torque converter and flywheel area which I thought was ok But upon final assembly I noticed that when turning the engine by way of socket and breaker bar there was a rubbing or something coming from the converter area?
I started the car for a second an confirmed my suspicion I heard alot of noise coming from the trans area so thinking something in out of wack there hope its not the converter,Could I have bent something by wedging the tire iron in there?
please let in be something simple :)
