Sorry if you don't like it when someone disagrees

It's not that I don't like the disagreement, It's just that I don't like seeing money wasted on superfluous exercises. Rarely does a B20 block need a hair cut, that money used would be better spent doing more headwork.

But assuming the block is already apart and at a machine shop, sitting near the milling machine, it makes sense to check the deck height and if its way off - such as .030

You've seriously found blocks that need .030" mowed off using stock parts?

400 miles from the 15.8 gallon tank in a 142 comes out to only 25.3 mpg

142 tanks aren't 15.8 gallons. 400 miles is 26.1 US MPG, but If I switched down to the little cam you use, I'd do better too.
