Will lacquer thinner in cylinder free a seized engine? 200 1983

I am assuming the engine is stuck because of sitting? I would guess that if the pistons are stuck to the cylinder walls the rings are probably stuck to the pistons as well. Soaking with anything will probably not free everything up, but lacquer thinner would not be my choice. I would try PB Blaster but I wouldn't bet any money on positive results.

The generator probably has a gummed up carburetor. Adding anything to the tank won't help as it can't flow to the blockage. You need to remove the carburetor and carefully disassemble it cleaning the passages and components with carburetor cleaner. Be careful as some small engine carburetors may contain plastic components that don't hold up well to prolonged exposure to the cleaner.
