Need to replace OD contact switch on M46 transmission 200 1982

What is the best method to replace the overdrive relay contact switch on the M46 transmission?

It looks as if there is not enough space to slide hand and tool to unscrew that switch. I understand I must replace the electric wire after the new switch is screwed in place.

I certainly dont want the transmission removed at a garage. I would rather cut a 2 inch dia. hole in the transmission tunnel to get access.

Any suggestions?
