240 intermittent start questions 200

1993 244 with intermittent start problem, hot or cold. Wouldn't start last night (cranks but no start) but did this morning without problem. Do the fuel pumps energize every time the ignition key is turned on? If they are supposed to, this is a problem, as on this car they do not energize each time the ignition switch is turned on. Wait five minutes and they will energize again, but car still won't necessarily start. Car is sitting in parking lot 25 miles away and can't get it towed home until Monday. At that time, my plan is to check fuses 4 and 6 first, then jump them to see if car starts. If it does, I will replace fuel pump relay. Any other recommendations? Daryl
