Crank gear key wear? 200 1983

Did a quick t-belt and tensioner job on the 240 this morning.
The rear spacer disk dealy had no key to align it to the crank.
The rear part of the crank gear key was, weird.
I guess it was worn that way, but it looked for all the world like it was cut almost offset on the back side, and there was almost a tooth of slop in it.
I pulled one from my 83 parts car and it looked like I expected it to, used it and it's spacers. It seemed to be alright with that.
Is this kinda wear one see's from time to time on these though?
