How to Open 945 Tailgate- Outside and Inside handles don't work

HI! I need help!
The tailgate on our 1995 940 wagon is closed and neither the outside nor inside handles are effective. I've tried all the simultaneous & separate lock & handle pushing & wiggling suggested in previous similar posts and the 700/900 FAQs but I seem to be out of luck. Does anyone know how to get the tailgate open without the handles, short of resorting to large violent tools or some use of fire :) ?
