Flywheel position? EDIT update 200

I didn't read carefully, and jumped to a conclusion based on previous engine swaps.

If you have other problems once the starter is working, the following may still be a valid comment.

"Unless the flywheels were swapped, the '85 flywheel (flexplate for AT) lacks the '91's "tone ring" for the Crank Position sensor. Or, if swapped, the flexplate/tone ring may not be positioned correctly on the crankshaft, throwing the timing way off."

Regarding he starter, you can try it from under the hood, by jumping battery 12V to the Service Socket, which connects to Starter terminal 50. (Via the Neutral Safety Switch if car has Auto Transmission.)
