To Trim or not to trim... wwyd? 140-160

Hi 140-160 people. My '72 145 is going to the body shop on Monday for a full (exterior) repaint. I've carefully pulled all the trim but am now thinking about filling the holes and going without. Possibly the same treatment for the rain gutters. Reason one, because those are 2 areas where the trim seems to promote rust, and two, because although my trim is in decent shape the flaws may be magnified by the straight body and shiny new paint. I'm already spending plenty and cant afford new trim pieces.
