Definitely don't give up! LH 2.2 is sooooo reliable. Our '87 245 just won't quit.
I'll echo the hall sensor. If you have the green books, you should see the test in there. I forget if you're measuring resistance or voltage, but that should fluctuate depending on the position of the the trigger wheel in the dizzy.
The way these cars work on start up is that the ignition switch powers the ignition ICU and starter. The hall sensor tells the ICU that the engine is spinning. The ICU, in turn, triggers spark and tells the ECU that spark is happening. The ECU then flips the fuel pump relay which basically energizes the entire FI system.
So no spark = no fuel, which means you need to be sure that you have spark first.
Additionally, double double check that 25amp fuse and holder for cleanliness (also clean the end of the red wire to that fuse on the positive battery lug). That fuse can look clean, but just be ugg on the inside. I just replace them with a waterproof fuse holder.
