A/C Question 900

If you are reading pressure with engine not running and the car has been parked overnight. 50 to 80 psi are ok depending on ambient temperature. With engine running 45 psi before it cycles off. The orifice tube is down bellow the dryer. Follow the thinner pipe from the condenser to the evaporator. You will see a union in the middle and the pipe is a bit thicker there. That where the expansion valve is. A car that old will probably need a new dryer. Over time the dryer daes not do its purpose. You refill and refill and no cold/ Change the dryer and you will have cool all summer long if there is not any leaks anywhere. Last and lets hope not, but if the orifice tube is clogged completely your compressor is shot.
