Odd sound 700 1987

Hi folks,

I have had a funny noise in my engine the last month or so... but it's so fleeting and erratic, I've been confused. Here's what's happening.

Lately, when I first start the car, whether the car is warm or not, I might hear a little high-pitched rubbing sound. It gets louder when I apply gas, whether in drive or in neutral. After a few moments it goes away.

Belt tension seems OK, but my PS is louder than normal. I'm thinking that my belts or the metal parts holding them may be glazed. The belts are new, as of May. I changed my timing belt at the same time, but I did not change my tensioner, since I didn't buy one (the old one looked fine).

One more belt-related thing: when I did my belts, I also did most of the mount bushings I could get to. Because of this, the belts may be slightly out-of-angle.

Thanks for any advice on getting to the bottom of this.

Ari
